Reflect.
October marks three years since I became a Professional Dominatrix. This year, I opt not to partake in celebration, but to reflect in quiet solitude on the days passed, and the months unfolded. Revelries call for only a reflection of what we allow ourselves to see in self-preoccupation.
These past three years flew by in a bat of an eyelid. What was originally meant to be a fun, temporary foray transformed into a respectable practice. I expanded on my craft, and brought in a larger gamut of toys and furniture. Most importantly, I built a family where I could call home to, and a treasured network of friendship not just in Singapore, but all over the world.
However, sometimes impermanence writes her tune in a dissonant chord, a promising flop, leading into an incredulous hand at the turn, bewildering and disconcerting. The past few months upended my quiet preference for balance. Through the chaos, I sought to recalibrate my priorities and beliefs, and the path that I should forge through ahead. I don't have an answer yet.
The River
At times instead we let fate take the labouring oar, to bring us places. To where we should be meant to go, to cross paths with people that we ought to meet, to nourish and blossom where we best would. That I hope.
Gratitude.
But like fireflies, fleeting and ephemeral as their lives may be, what a night it maketh, in all its smallous flicker; fragile yet magical. It is how much of a life we make through how much we light up the darkest of nights for those around us.
These three years I learnt to count my blessings for all those who stood by, weathering this journey alongside me. To express my gratitude, the highest appreciation to those whom I have received from, is not just to utter words of thanks, but to live by them every day, says John F Kennedy.
This journey of leaning into gratitude will constantly guide how I carry my practice and show up.
It has been a long three years. Carpe diem, seize the fucking day.
